Chung Ying, Birmingham

Excellent food, very authentic food served by attentative staff - recommend booking as very busy, especially in a Saturday when we were there.

We shall return

very nice meal with some lovely tasty food, service can be a bit slow at times but its not a great problem

Chung ying was great. My first time in Birmingham and didn't realise there was a china town. Was pleasantly surprised by the inside and decor. Food was very nice.

Went to the Chung Ying Cantonese Restaurant in Birmingham for a family meal that included a variable number of guests but which included children and fussy eaters.

The restaurant coped brilliantly with the large number of people (plus the fact that we ended up with a slightly smaller number of people than expected). Food was hot and tasty and came quickly, but not too quickly - allowing us to enjoy the food we had without feeling the need to rush.

Bit of a nightmare when we arrived because despite having a confirmed booking with Toptable they did not have a table for us - the man who does internet bookings was away!!! They did manage to fit us in and the food and service were excellent as always. We had the set meal for five which was good value, an excellent selection and just the right amount of food. Looking forward to my next visit.

Ok food. Service was below expectations, staff appear brusque and service was slow, even though it was not busy. Would not go again.

Love it !

Had not been for several years but was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. A bit noisy but very busy with a hen party so to be expected.

Visited the Chung Ying restaurant in Birmingham last night. Had an excellent set meal for the three of us. The sauce on the barbequed ribs was exceptionally delicious. The staff were very attentive but not pushy. Our wine was delivered promptly & there was a satisfactory amount of time between courses which enabled us to arrive at the theatre with plenty of time to spare having succumbed to liqueur coffees. An excellent evening.

Very good.

Had a reasonable meal at the Chung Ying in Birmingham but not to the standard we have previously experienced. The starters were excellent as always but we ordered 4 and only received 3 - by the time we realised the 4th was not on its way we had our main meals. One of the main meals was cold but it was returned and re-heated so was OK. We have had better meals there - perhaps it was just a bad day!!

Great food and location. Excellent service.

Had a lovely meal at chung ying-staff very attentive-generous portions-lovely experience.

The Chung Ying Cantonese Restaurant offers a wide selection of traditional food. The service was quick (although somewhat sullen) and we were seated and served very quickly indeed. We went for the set menu A which at £30 for the two of us was very reasonable. The food wa s well spiced and flavoursome but I would have liked some soup at the start. This would have been available at extra cost but I feel to could have been included at the price.

The deluxe set dinner was excellent value for money. At £3.50 for a small glass of wine we felt this was expensive but the food was very good and the staff were very attentive. It was very busy and there approx 60 people there at pre 7pm but this did not affect the service as there were ample staff. I would definitely eat there again and intend to take a party so that we can try more dishes. Overall it was excellent and we would not hesitate to recommend it.

Each visit gets better, like vintage wine! See my previous reviews too

Chung Ying Cantonese Restaurant Wrottesley Street - Birmingham.

Thursday evening - Very popular restaurant, busy but not to the detriment of service or food quality. Round table for 9 guests and Banquet menu which met everyone's tastes.

Would recommend and will definitely be returning.

Have visited this restaurant many times and it just gets better...with each visit. Fabulous place, am a strict vegetarian and they have some amazing dishes.

As Always we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Chung Ying cantonese arestaurant in Birmingham. It was my daughters first time and she was very impressed with the Dim Sum. We will be going again soon.

Food was really good at the Chung Ying Cantonese restaurant in Birmingham. We especially enjoyed the dim sum - very good value for money and very tasty. Looking forward to going again to try some others. Only complaint was the service was too rushed. We hadn't finished our starters when our main meals were delivered. Will try it again though because the food was good and not too expensive.
