About Montrose Restaurant

Montrose Restaurant is a chic eatery in Tunbridge Wells' Church Road, which was named after the famous French vineyard Château Montrose. This smart, boutique eatery has a unique décor with sunny lemon walls, wooden floors and bold black and white seating, and the foodie crowd the restaurant attracts all adore the modern European menu. With different dining areas and excellent service, Montrose restaurant is suitable for afternoon tea, business dining, cocktails and romantic meals for two – and we love the smoked duck and cashew nut salad; the 21-day hung black mustard seed crusted fillet of beef served with garlic wild mushrooms and polenta chips; and the restaurant's signature cocktail the Champagne Montrose with fresh raspberries.

Montrose is well located if you are driving towards London from Kent, just north outside Tonbridge Wells on the A26, by a pleasant green. The food was very good, with the presentation being excellent and the cooking refined, but did not have the wow factor in the taste that we expected for the price. The deserts in particular were certainly enjoyable but average; a pity, since on the menu they looked innovative and exciting. Ambience was perfect, service pleasant but with mistakes and delays.

really excellent meal and service

Excellent food and service. Very quiet the lunchtime we went.

Had a very relaxing and enjoyable meal at the Montrose on Good Friday. They had just changed the menu and the fixed price lunch/dinner menu is good value and excellent quality food. A hidden tresure in sothborough and well worth a visist. We'll be back.

Nice meal as always , lovely presentation. Probably my favorite place to eat , top end , in the Tunbridge Wells area.

The Montrose is a superb French fine dining restaurant. We visited this time on a Sunday and they had 3 courses for £21 (2 for £18) which was amazing value for very high quality food. The ambience is great and the staff attentive, didn't have to wait long for food, deserves more than its 1 rosette

Our third visit to Montrose. This evening they were short of staff, but the apology on our arrival really wan't necessary - the service was still very good. As before, our 3000 points gave us two courses from the standard a la carte. My lemon sole was very good; my wife's pork belly was good, but rather hefty - "a man-sized portion of meat"! It was good to see the restaurant reasonably busy on a Wednesday evening - on previous visits it was rather quiet. Wines pricey but good and interesting.

a first class restaurant, attentive service with great food and wines. A reall must for any foodie or wine lover

Have waited a long time to try Montrose in Southborough near Tunbridge Wells, and thanks to having accrued 6000 points on toptable finally did with a friend last night! Hard to comment on ambience as being the only ones there we made our own(!) but service was very friendly and the decor is super. Food was well-executed - pigeon and guinea-fowl dishes were very good; rabbit raviolo slightly lacked flavour;venison was beautifully rare but juniper didn't really show up in it.Worth another try.

This is a very good restaurant. The service was close without being stifling. The menu is varied and sources local produce and meats. A good wine list; possibly slightly on the dear side. It would have been good to see a sub £20 white, but drinking quality and enjoyability remained firmly in tact.

4 of us: starters, mains and some vegetables, two bottles of white followed by a cheese platter, teas and water came in at £207 (service is included at 12.5% if over 7).

Very good evening.

My husband and I had lunch at 'Montrose Restaurant' at 15a Church Road, Southborough Common, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 0RX. The venue is not very big but very cosy. Service was excellent. As the restaurant was not very busy at the time we had a chat with the manager who was serving us- a very pleasant French guy who also gave us good tips what to visit in the area. Their bread was awesome, as well as our starters. We both found our mains a bit bland. Despite that we will be back when in area.

Montrose, Tunbridge Well was a good experience . We had a range of different dishes and all guests were pleased with their choices. The flavour of each dish was well balanced and complemented the main ingredient perfectly. Service was impeccable. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and preparation of the dishes. A memorable evening.

Montrose is our favorite restaurant in Kent! It never lets us down and we are always made to feel special. A true gem

Really impressed with this place. Sunday lunch menu excellent value. Only issue is if you have older members of your party, the only toilet some very steep stairs.

Lovely food, will certainly be going back.

This was our first trip to the Montrose and we will certainly return! From start to finish we had a thoroughly tasty, relaxing and enjoyable lunch! The food was superb and the staff were very attentive! I chose the Montrose for my Mum's 50th birthday and she was made to feel special (glass of champagne on arrival was lovely)! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable dining experience!

Montrose Restaurant - Southborough Common, Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Restaurant very welcoming, great menu. Quality of the food was to a high standard with a great selection of wines. On the expensive side, but worth it for a special meal.

Montrose had lovely surroundings and we had a super meal.5

A very quiet Friday evening and little atmosphere. The food was good but served on cool, rather than warm or hot plates. As a result, our food lost heat very quickly. Having mentioned this to our waiter after the first course, it was disappointing that the plates were no warmer for the main course.

The overall experience was somewhat less than satisfactory.

This was our first visit to the Montrose and it was lovely. I had fish that was cooked to perfection and my husband had lamb, equally as well cooked.

The only downside was the menu differing from the one shown online.

Would definitely recommend this restaurant for a special occasion.
