Really enjoyable meal and great 50% off a la carte offer. excellent quality. Our kids both found something suitable. Really good experience in pseudo French ambience. Only downside and only mentioned because we're asked to score - one toilet for women and one for men - resulted in queues etc, but you know, a small point - just plan well ahead.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. We opted for 50% off the a la carte which was fantastic value. They have one of the best vegetarian menu's I've come across in Edinburgh, but be sure to ask for it as it is not on the main menu. Service was swift and efficent and the staff were all very friendly. It was a little quiet however I imagine when it's busy it would have a vibrant atmosphere. We will definately return for dinner in the near future.
Meal was good although quite expensive, at Hotel du vin in Edinburgh
Took my daughters to Hotel du Vin for a birthday treat of afternoon tea. The room was lovely, cosy and relaxing. The tea was fine, not overly inspiring and maybe a little more variety would have been good but the staff were very pleasant and there was no rush to move on which we appreciated. Had to be reminded that this was a top table booking with an offer.
Wonderful lunch at Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Edinburgh. Very relaxing, with courses nicely paced. Excellent choice of starters, mains, desserts and wines. Staff were attentive but allowed us to enjoy a relaxing meal. The main restaurant was lovely and will definitely return.
A second visit for this great lunch stop. Food is well prepared, service is smooth and the general surrounding a step above the usual bistro. An easy restaurant to recommend.
This was our third visit to Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Edinburgh. We were slightly disappointed, as one reason we had chosen to return was because of the fabulous way they cook their onglet steak - and they no longer serve it, having changed to a new spring menu - with much less choice on it. My burger was good, if slightly dry (made up for by a great sauce, cheese and bacon, and my partner's rib eye steak was good too, but neither were as good as their onglet. The chocolate ice cream was great.
Continues to impress. Nice new menu and wine list. Sarah and Greame in the Bistro, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Will be back again soon.
Good food and ambiance. Excellent service.
Enjoyed our meal at Hotel Du Vin, Edinburgh (moules du vin and duck confit) after a drink in the upstairs bar. Good atmosphere and attentive waiting staff. Had to remind them of our 25% discount offer from Top Table when paying the bill - great value with this!
Hotel du vin provided great food and a lovely warm atmosphere. The discount made it great value. Will certainly go back.
Lunch at Hotel du Vin, Edinburgh most enjoyable. Food superb, and interaction with Sommelier most informative. However, they did overlook in the bill the fact that I had booked with toptable, thereby omitting reduction and had to be reminded, Nevertheless, that does not detract from the food experience.
Characterful dining room with the sort of service you might expect at more expensive restaurants. Food was a delight, well prepared and presented with a good range of options. Wines lean towards the more expensive but quality is evident. A lovely lunch.
The food was very tasty. Staff were friendly and helpful. Do remind staff you have a 25% offer as the hotel won't remember you have booked with an offer.
Excellent service/surroundings and food!
We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Hotel Du Vin, Edinburgh. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. Thoroughly recommend the french onion soup as a hearty starter, my partner is still raving about it! I had the special, which was a rack of lamb, which was cooked beautifully and seasoned well. Good choice of wines to compliment any menu choice. Highly recommended
Excellent place, fantastic service and fabulous wine!
Hotel Du Vin is a great choice for dinner especially with the current 50% off deal. The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was tasty and piping hot. It really is a lovely venue and a firm favourite of ours in Edinburgh!
We ate in Hotel du Vin Edinburgh last night and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. The early evening deal of 50% of all food was amazing value.
think i may have gone on an off night for them as i had heard good things. starter was good had the duck confit however it was very fatty and there was not enough of the celeriac coleslaw to cut through the fat. ordered a rib eye rare and it came out medium- well! they fixed with no issue but had to wait while the person i dined with had their main course in front of them. i think on a good night the meal would have been good but the restaurant was very quiet so no real excuses for the mistakes.
Reliable as always, still not hugely impressed by the desert selection though, nothing to get too excited about.
first time at hoteldu vin. and would definatley go back. 10 out of 10.
Hotel du Vin & Bistro Edinburgh Friendly service and really good food Highly recommended!
This was our second visit to Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Edinburgh, and it was just as good as our first. We both had the onglet steak, which was tender and full of flavour. The only (very small) problem with it was that it started getting cold while we were eating it - it might be good if they heated the plates a bit more to try and stop that happening. The home made chocolate ice cream was also one of the best I have tried. The service was attentive and friendly.
Helpful staff and enjoyable lunch Starters are rather large
Enjoyed a very pleasant meal at Hotel Du Vin in Bristo Place, Edinburgh. It was a quiet evening in pleasant surroundings. However, did not expect to have to get up to retrieve bottle of white wine from chiller which had been placed out of reach. Had expected staff to be more attentive. Very impressed with the souffle, delicious! Recommended venue and deal to friend who was as impressed as I was. Would return on a summer's evening to sit out in courtyard.
Hotel du Vin, Edinburgh. Very good experience indeed. Initially quite quiet but filled up as the evening went on. The decor and candlelight gives it an excellent atmosphere but with tables sufficiently spread out for privacy. The food was excellent - and eggs benedict for an evening starter was an inspired idea!
We dined in the Bistro at Hotel du Vin and took advantage of the excellent 50% discount on the lunch. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We ordered the cheese souffle and were staggered at the size - it was huge! Served with it's own little pot of cheese sauce on the side, even with a 15 min wait, it was well worth it. The service was excellent ( thank you Jason) and all the staff were helpful and very professional. I can highly recommend this restaurant and we will be back!
At the Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Edinburgh the service was great, very friendly staff. The food was nice apart from the cheese souffle, would have been very disappointed if I was paying full price. Ambience of the restaurant was lovely as we were ushered through it into a brightly lit side corridor opposite the toilets and hotel entrance (Not the romantic setting I was hoping for to celebrate our wedding anniversary, but perhaps these were the cheap seats as we had 50% off).
Hotel du Vin & Bistro, Edinburgh. Staff very attentive and generous portions. Particularly good value for money given the 50% discount on food. Would definately recommend this restaurant.
amazing food. had 50% off deal which made it even better, pricey but worth it without the offer.
Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh has great ambience , excellent service and fine food and wine by the glass choice. definitely well worth a visit!
My friends and I went for lunch at Hotel du Vin, Bristo Pl, Edinburgh on 24th March. We had the 50% off the A La Carte - although this is taken off before VAT is added. 2 of us had the Isle of Mull Souffle - a spectacular and very light cheese souffle with a side of cheese sauce. Very nice and although it looked huge on arrival, it was very light. My main was the Ox cheek served with a lovely sauce and the creamiest mashed potato. It melted in the mouth. We would go again - delicious!
Hotel du Vin & Bistro We had an excellent meal. The Chicken parfait was superb and the Flat Iron Steak and Beef and Snail Pie were excellent. My partner had a petit Pot of Chocalate which I am assured was to die for. Be aware large portions. You will not be hungry after a meal here
Great food and great service as always. Du Vin (Edinburgh)
We were really impressed with our 50% deal at Hotel du Vin & Bistro in Edinburgh. The souffle that we both started with was spectacular (I even took a photo of it) and tasted great. My steak was incredibly tasty and tender - normally you have to choose but not with this onglet steak. The ambience and venue were also great, we will definitely be coming back
Hotel du Vin Edinburgh
We had a fantastic meal on the 50% discount deal. The food was great and the hotel is really first class.
We will be returning!! Staff are very attentive. Loved the experience.
This restaurant turned out to be more relaxed than I expected, but it was a nice surprise. Its in a boutique hotel, and bistro really does describe it. No white tablecloths, but service is excellent and the ambience is lovely without being fussy. I had a Soufflé with Mull Cheddar Cheese sauce which was a wonderful wobbling tower, a feat of cooking. Then an ox cheek that had been braised, and was superb, and a rhubarb sorbet for desert. It was £125 for 3 people, 3 courses and 1 bottle of wine.
Food was excellent, service attentive but not intrustive with a great wine selection, really enjoyed it, only slight downside was it was quite quiet for a Sat lunchtime which I don't understand as the food is really great - it would have been nice with a buzzier atmosphere, just a busier dining room.
My first visit to Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh and we loved the warm welcome and cosy dining room on a cold Sunday night. A popular spot - no wonder with the excellent winter top table which gave us 50% off food costs. Meat eaters are well served with their menu and although there are veggie choices, I felt the carnivores in our party got the best deal. No gripes though because we were well served by charming and efficient staff.
Sunday lunch at Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh is definitely worth the visit. Good slab of roast beef, with a rich gravy and the accompanying vegetables you'd expect - all perfectly cooked. And, as the name of the establishment would suggest, a fine range of wine to complement it all.
Fantastic meal, great food and wine choice and service really superb. The souffle was truly scrummy!
hotel du vin, edinburgh. The dining room was light and airy however the air was filled with a mix of food aromas and frequent wafts of wood smoke from a nearby fire. Starters of salmon and chorizo tart, beetroor risotto, duck on toast were very nice. Mains of ox cheeck was good but lacked seasoning, ballotine of lamb on a bed of sweet red peppers tasty but unusual. Sweets of rhum babar, cappucino ice cream were ok but jam sponge arrived with curdled custard. Staff very nice though.
Hotel du Vin Edinburgh Excellent meal, chosen from a restricted but varied menu. Try the souffle starter. Young waiting staff were delightful - concerned but not fussy. Maitre d' was happy to offer sound advice when asked. Her recommendations were delicious. Food , as always as Hotel du Vin, was quickly and beautifully presented. No problems with the 50% discount offer. Wooden floors and high ceilings made the end of our meal rather noisy, thanks to a group of 'Look at Me' businessmen.
Hotel du Vin and Bistro, Edin.Food was delicious.Portions were generous. For main meal we had; macaroni cheese, a lamb dish & steak.Sommelier advised us on a beautiful wine which complemented all.Was very disappointed however, when the macaroni & steak arrived but no lamb.We were told it would take 3-4 minutes but it arrived closer to 10.No explanation given. There was also 10% discretionary charge added to bill which was a cheek considering the lamb was late.Bad end to a lovely evening.
Great experience. I opted for the salmon classic, followed by the pollock and clams,my partner opted for thee ribeye. Beautifully cooked. Service very attentive and knowledgeable. Great wine list and very busy for a Tuesday evening. Will definitely return and with the top table deal, exceptional value.
Enjoyed a great lunch at hotel du vin Edinburgh. The isle of mull souffle was fantastic! I have a gluten free diet and whilst the menu wasnt clear the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had 50% off deal which meant we were able to splash out a little on the amazing range of wines!
In Hotel du Vin & Bistro, Edinburgh the atmosphere is good and this is matched by the service. The food is tasty and the wine list quite extensive as you would imagine. Overall, a pleasant experience and great value with the 50% offer.
We had a very impressive souffle to start - visually moreso than it tasted as had a very strong, cheddar flavour - better with a Jarlsberg or similar. We had 21 day matured steak which was cooked perfectly med/rare and was absolutely delicious. Our American guests said it was one of the best steaks they had ever tasted, and it was excellent. Fries (skin on) in a poke were good if a bit soggy by the end. Dessert menu was excellent. I would go back and recommend but maybe not at full price!
Visited on a date after spotting on toptable and having been keen to try for a while. Cheese souffle and pâté to start, both fab, ox cheek main was delicious but chicken pie seemed a little unadventurous. Wine list extensive and a little baffling, although sure we'd have been offered more guidance by the sommelier if we'd asked. Fairly quiet on a Wednesday evening and seated next to a staff-only doorway, sure they could have fond us a better table but we didn't really notice until we'd already sat down. Overall would def visit again, especially at 50% off.
