Maxwells in Covent garden: nice place, lively and busy, had to wait to get our (roughly half an hour) but food portions were huge and tastes quite good too!

Maxwell's Oxford was excellent, as ever. Good food, good service and reasonable prices.
I went over there for lunch yesterday. It was good value - my friend and I shared a chicken / ribs combo and a desert. The desert was too sweet. Good ambience though.
I have eaten here twice for birthdays. Good food, okay pricing, toilets are in a very perculiar place ! Other than that its a recommend !
Food delicious and portions huge. The quality was good & prices were reasonable. Staff were very efficient & pleasant. Be warned that at around 9pm on Saturday this turns from a nice diner to scuzzy disco - staff were making a dance floor around us as we were having coffee so avoid bookings past about 7pm!
Great value meal, excellent atmosphere, very helpful staff.
Maxwells in Oxford was a great place for us to get together for our Christmas Meal
A very good evening with friends from overseas who had teenage children. We were very well looked after and everyone had a good time.
Maxwells Oxford. Four of us went 7pm Friday evening. Three had 2 courses £7.50, I had 3 courses £10. This is good deal. Burger and chips was tasty and cooked to order and the fudge brownie was very good indeed. Bit outdated inside but good service and nice start to evening. I do wish restaurants served pints though. Two bottles so > £6 for a pint is ridiculous.
Maxwells in Oxford is in a city centre location and serves good American-style food. I ate a Maxwell's burger, which was tasty and nicely cooked, and came with a side-salad and excellent chips. Pudding was brownie with vanilla ice-cream - well-presented and tasty. The 2 courses for £7.50 was very good value.
It was pretty quiet when we visited as it was early Saturday evening. Food was good quality, nothing special but perfectly nice. Mojito cocktails were fabulous
As both of us are non drinkers we were allowed to open our own bottle. Very nice and quiet as early evening
Maxwells in Oxford is exactly as it should be! The food was good and the service was excellent - very friendly!
The food at Maxwells in Queen Street Oxford was good. The service was quick and friendly. It would appear is quite popular as it was busy.
Maxwells - Oxford. Good service, atmosphere, service and value. Would certainly recommend.
i visited maxwells oxford where i enjoyed a good value 2 course meal consisting of starter or desert plus main course.i has a maxwell burger with steakhouse fries followed by a large banana split. pls note that there is no disabled access as it is on the first floor with step access.
We went to Maxwells at Oxford but unfortunately we were only able to stay for a drink each -the long island iced tea was very weak as was the strawberry dacquiri. Service was very attentive, we were asked a number of times if we were ready to order, but we had to go.
Friendly staff, good service, good food for the price, excellent value, tasty cocktails, relaxed atmosphere on a bank holiday, busy other nights, would recommend Maxwells in Oxford.
Maxwells provided a good quality and inexpensive lunch in Oxford.
Maxwells in Oxford serves good portions of American style food. The service is quick and the restaurant has large windows and a fun atmosphere. Good meal overall.
A bit difficult to find as it is a small doorway and a little sign, but restaurant bigger upstairs. As an American, I found its food quite average. the portion of chips with the burger was small.
Had lunch at Maxwell's in Oxford. Unfortunately, the toptable offer for £7.50 for two courses was not running (since it was Saturday). Lovely burger with blue cheese and onions. Good coffee. Good service.
Maxwells offers an American dining experience with atmosphere, some interesting views onto Queen street and very reasonably priced drinks. The menu has a similar set of food to what you'd find in an all-american restaurant and the quality of the food seems to match. The food isn't the best in terms of cuisine but is very tasty.
Brilliant service too!
Myself and my friend visited Maxwells in Oxford last night. I can truly say it was a great night. Our food was great, (we had burgers) the staff were very attentive and we even got a free cocktail!! I would thoroughly recommend this to any1 looking for a great meal and even a boogie afterwards as there is music from 10pm. Just a quick mention about the toilets too ....they were spotless and no queues!!!! Brilliant dining experience x
staff were really helpful and gave us a free cocktail without asking desptite only a tiny delay/error. It's what the packet says i.e. american diner but 2 courses for 7.50 is good value
Maxwells in Oxford is a lively burger bar with plenty of atmosphere. Discount menu is basic - not a great choice but food is good value. Good value cocktails during 'happy hour' but our waitor wouldnt let us take advantage of the early evening slot so rather than argue we took our drinks business else where. I'm sure if we insisted cocktails would have been great too....
I went to Maxwell's on Queen Street in Oxford for lunch yesterday and had the offer main + pud for £7.50. I mostly liked the American athmosphere with Cheryl Crowe playing in the background. I had a burger and chips for main and chocolate brownie for pudding and the quality was alright although the burger was a bit dry with basically a slice of tomato and salad in it (they did ask if I wanted more sauces but I decline). The most outstanding was the milkshake which I would highly recommend:)
Maxwell's - Oxford Food ws okay, but service was rather slow. If you want a quick meal forget it. Rather average establishment but appeared to be dated.
Maxwell's in Oxford is a classic burger bar. Good food, good service, but at the end of the day, a burger bar.
Nice restaurant, staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was a little slow to arrive... but good and generously portioned when it did.
We had a nice evening out at Maxwell's. The food was pricy, so we probably wouldn't have gone had we not had a two for one voucher. I had the Cajun blackened salmon, which was delicious, and my husband had the ribs, which he said were the best he's had in the UK (we're American). As Americans, the level of service never seems quite up to what we are used to. It took a very long time for our server to take our order, and then for the food to arrive. We really liked the ambience and music.
Maxwells is a slighty odd place to dine (in my opinion). The food was pretty good (bog standard American fare, but done well), the service was fine, but the place itself looks very shabby and in need of attention. Maybe it's great for a late night drink, or for a group meal, but I'm not sure it's the place to go for a relaxed meal and chat.
Excellent lunch- enjoyed really tasty burgers. Restaurant was almost empty at lunchtime which was a shame as the food was absolutely delicious!. People are really missing out! Will definitely return and recommend to everyone.
The service was excellent during a busy service. To be congratulated.
Maxwells is always great and good fun, great value for money and fantastic food, five stars
Maxwells in oxford, great night out and lovely food
lively place and ok food, burgers and chips type stuff
nice food, cheap, buzzy place
not bad food, lively atmosphere..
ok food - not wonderful, nice staff.
nice place, good food, friendly staff. would visit again
Went to Maxwells in Oxford - used to be regular customers but put off by the other day. We had to have two waitresses - one to serve us and another to correct the first one's mistakes! EVERYTHING went wrong. Booked table for 8 o'clock, so put on a table for 8 PEOPLE (it was our anniversary too!) my food was wrong, service just generally bad. Nothing for veggies. Used to be good, not anymore! Won't be back for a while!
The music could be a bit more varied - too much rap and hip hop.
